‘The Tragedy of Macbeth’ Trailer Teases Something Wicked

The teaser trailer for Joel Coen’s solo directorial effort, The Tragedy of Macbeth, dropped Tuesday morning. The trailer boasts amazing black-and-white cinematography and visuals, excellent costumes, and shows us, though briefly, what we can expect from our two leads: Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand.

The film adapts Shakespeare’s tragedy of Macbeth from the stage to screen. The story follows Macbeth (Washington) and his wife Lady Macbeth (McDormand) as they hatch a violent plan to seize and keep the Scottish throne.

This project marks another collaboration between A24 and AppleTV+ after other projects that include On the Rocks and Boys State. It is set to be released during the height of awards season. It will release theatrically on Christmas Day and hit the Apple streaming platform on January 14, 2022.

With a veteran director behind the project, two Oscar-winning leads, gripping source material, and fantastic art direction, this film is expected to be a heavy hitter during the forthcoming awards season.
