J.K. Simmons in Talks to Reprise Role as Commissioner Gordon for ‘Batgirl’

After finding a new heroine with In the Heights star, Leslie Grace, the new Batgirl film has potentially found its Commissioner Gordon with J.K. Simmons. The Hollywood Reporter had the exclusive.

Previously, the Oscar winning actor starred in the role in Justice League in 2017. His return to the role comes as Warner Bros. and HBOMAX seek to expand their superhero universe.

Within the comics, the most famous iteration of Batgirl aka Barbara Gordon is Commissioner Gordon’s daughter. This film will seek to tell that story.

The film will release in 2022 under the direction of Bad Boys For Life filmmakers, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah.

Not much is known about the project and whether it will have a connection to the DC film universe, but this hints there may be more to come.

Look out for the new Batgirl on HBOMAX next year. For more updates and news regarding future DC and DCEU projects follow Awards Radar.
