‘Unclenching the Fists’ Wins Top Un Certain Regard Prize at Cannes

It has been announced that Kira Kovalenko‘s Unclenching the Fists has claimed the top prize in the Un Certain Regard competition. This and other winners including Sebastian Meise‘s Great Freedom were revealed in an awards ceremony held in the Debussy Theater on Friday.

Here is a brief synopsis of the film: In a former mining town in North Ossetia, a young woman struggles to escape the stifling hold of the family she loves as much as she rejects.

A release date is yet to be announced, with the film only showing at Cannes as of now. However, a big win is certainly going to make it a film to watch out for when a release date is announced.
