Yorgos Lanthimos fans have some fresh news for the idiosyncratic filmmaker’s upcoming Frankenstein reimagining.
As first reported by Collider, Mark Ruffalo is now set to star in the film opposite Lanthimos veteran Emma Stone. Titled Poor Things, the film will be written by The Favourite alum Tony McNamara, based on a novel by Alasdair Gray.
The hook in this retelling of the age-old story is that the monster has been replaced by a woman (Stone) who is brought back to life with the brain of an infant. Production on the film is slated to begin later this year, signaling a release sometime in 2022.
Certainly this will be a title for fans of Lanthimos, Ruffalo, and Stone to have at the top of their most anticipated lists.
