Are you absolutely itching for some Mortal Kombat? Can’t wait until Friday to get a taste? Well, HBO is here to help you out, as the studio has dropped the first seven minutes of the film online in order to let audiences know what they can expect when the film releases on HBO Max and in theaters this Friday, April 23rd.
The new film is hoping to break the “video game movie curse”, rebooting the ‘90s duology of films set in the game’s universe for a whole new era.
Mortal Kombat is directed by Simon McQuoid, making his directorial debut, and produced by James Wan, Todd Garner, E. Bennett Walsh, and McQuoid.
The film star Lewis Tan as Cole Young, an MMA fighter who discovers his heritage as he crosses paths with iconic video game characters like Sub-Zero (Joe Taslim) and Scorpion (Hiroyuki Sanada). Also starring in the film are Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Tadanobu Asano, Mehcad Brooks, Ludi Lin, and Chin Han.
