Motion Picture Sound Editors Hand Out Some Surprises!

The Motion Picture Sound Editors handed out their awards last night for the best work in sound editing over the past year, and there was a big shutout for the leading contenders of the night.

Sound of Metal, largely considered the frontrunner for the Best Sound award at the Oscars, and News of the World, both went into the night with the most nominations (3 each), and both came out of it empty-handed.

Who picked up the prizes instead? Greyhound and Soul, both competing with those films for the Oscar, earned one apiece, as did The Trial of the Chicago 7 and Tenet.
