Trailer for ‘The Night House’ Comes Calling

Searchlight Pictures

The last year has, understandably, been a very difficult one when it comes to finding the right release strategy. While some films have been pushed out on streaming services, foregoing traditional theatrical releases, others have seen their releases pushed back repeatedly, with the studios hoping to be able to give them the proper theatrical rollout.

Perhaps that’s been the case with The Night House, a new atmospheric horror film from director David Bruckner (The Ritual) that premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival and received strong reviews and word of mouth.

The film’s release was also complicated, of course, by the transition of its home, Searchlight Pictures, away from Fox and over to Disney, who are still figuring out the kinks with releasing a movie like this that doesn’t necessarily fit with the traditional Disney brand.

Searchlight is ready to get The Night House out to audiences though, as they’ve released a trailer for the film with a prime summer theatrical release date of July 16th.

Starring Rebecca HallSarah GoldbergVondie Curtis HallEvan Jonigkeit, and Stacy Martin, the film tells the story of a widow (Hall) who starts to realize that her deceased husband had some alarming secrets.
