‘Being the Ricardos’ Adds to Its Impressive Cast

We’re officially less than a month away from the 2021 Oscars, where Aaron Sorkin has the chance to add some more golden love to his trophy case.

The filmmaker doesn’t seem to be sweating the ceremony too much, however, as production has begun in Los Angeles for his next project, Being the Ricardos

The film, starring Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem as I Love Lucy stars Lucile Ball and Desi Arnaz, takes place over one week during the production of their iconic sitcom, following the trials and tribulations of their professional and personal lives.

Joining them in the cast are the previously announced J.K. Simmons and Nina Arianda, and with production now beginning we have some additional casting news to share.

Tony HaleAlia ShawkatJake Lacy, and Clark Gregg are all on board for what is now the kind of robust, star-studded cast you would come to expect for a Sorkin project.

These actors all have plenty of experience in television and film, across comedies and dramas alike, making them perfect fits not only for Sorkin’s style of filmmaking, but also for the world of recreating I Love Lucy.

In a statement, Sorkin said, “Being the Ricardos is a drama about the people behind the making of television’s most famous comedy. I’m looking forward to working with Nicole, Javier, J.K., Nina and the rest of our great cast.”

Surely, this will be a film to watch out for when awards season comes around.
