‘Batwoman’ to Bring Back Kate Kane, with Wallis Day in the Role

The CW’s Batwoman is prepared to bring back Kate Kane, although in a very different package.

After Ruby Rose departed the series, Kane’s departure became a central mystery for the show’s second season, and Sunday night’s episode of the series revealed that she is alive, yet unrecognizable due to injuries sustained during a plane crash.

With some very convenient facial reconstruction surgery Kane will now be played by Wallis Day, returning to the world of comic book television after her role on the series Krypton

Does this mean that Kane will be picking back up the mantle of Batwoman? That answer seems to be a resounding no, as new series lead Javicia Leslie will continue to portray the titular role, aka Ryan Wilder.

Kane’s return was always hinted at by showrunner Caroline Dries, who insisted that she had no intention on Rose’s departure leading to the show contributing to the much-criticized “bury your gays” trope seen on television.

How will Kane’s return impact the series? Expect Season 2 to now focus plenty of its time on figuring out what happened to her, and what that will mean for the character going forward.
