Rian Johnson’s ‘Poker Face’ on Peacock to Star Natasha Lyonne

Rian Johnson is back and is set to write, direct and produce a mystery series titled Poker Face, for NBC/Universal’s streaming service, Peacock. Russian Doll actress Natasha Lyonne will executive produce and star in the series.

No other details on the show have been given or a release date, but Johnson has said in a statement that he is “very excited to dig into the type of fun, character driven, case-of-the-week mystery goodness I grew up watching.” From the looks of this quote, it could be akin to Johnson’s previous film, Knives Out, which was a “whodunit?” style mystery.

Poker Face will also mark Johnson’s first television series. Even if he has directed episodes of Breaking Bad and Terriers, he has not created an entire series before. Based on his previous experience in film and TV, Poker Face might be another exciting project from Johnson filled with subversion of classic mystery genre tropes. We’ll just have to wait and see for more details beforehand.
