Santa Barbara Announces Plans for the 2021 Version of the Festival

The Santa Barbara International Film Festival have announced their plans for their 2021 festival today, which will include two beachside drive-in theaters that will feature over 80 film screenings, all offered for free. RSVPing prior to arriving for these events will be required.

These drive-in theaters will be an addition to a virtual option for the festival, with SBIFF’s Executive Director Roger Durling stating, “A virtual component was a given but experiencing movies in socially distanced cars and being by the ocean felt oh so perfectly Santa Barbara, California.”

This full-scale virtual component will include online film screenings, filmmaker Q&As, industry panels, and celebrity tributes. Who will those tributes include, you ask? Well, SBIFF has put together a very impressive roster already, having announced tributes for Bill Murray, Sacha Baron Cohen, Amanda Seyfried, Riz Ahmed, Maria Bakalova, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Andra Day, Sidney Flanigan, Vanessa Kirby, Tahar Rahim, Zendaya, and Delroy Lindo so far. The tributes and panels will all be aired live on the virtual platform.

The festival will run from March 31st – April 10th, 2021. Passes are now on sale, as are tickets for the celebrity tributes.
