NYFCO Awards Handed Out

Minari had a big day today, racking up the second most nominations from the Independent Spirit Awards, two big wins from the National Board of Review, and even earning Steven Yeun his first critics win from the North Texas Film Critics Association. Well, Lee Isaac Chung’s family drama wasn’t done yet, as it has now earned the Best Picture prize from the New York Film Critics Online, who have just announced their 2020 winners.

Other big winners include more of the regulars, like Chloé Zhao for Best Director, and Riz Ahmed and Carey Mulligan in the lead acting categories. One surprise, however, is Ellen Burstyn winning her second critics award of the year for Pieces of a Woman in Supporting Actress. She tied with, of course, Minari’s Youn Yuh-jung, who adds to her tally of critic’s awards to maintain her position as the critic’s favorite in the category.
