Zendaya and John David Washington star in Sam Levinson’s upcoming black-and-white romance Malcolm & Marie, set to premiere February 5 on Netflix. Today, we got a trailer for the movie, and it looks like a real showcase for the actors.
The film follows Malcolm, a filmmaker, and his girlfriend Marie as they discuss their past relationships while returning home from a film premiere.
Netflix, after acquiring the film for $30 million at the Toronto International Film Festival, plans to run an awards campaign for this movie, which could land it in contention at many prestigious film awards.
Zendaya, after becoming the youngest woman to win Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series at the Emmys several months ago for her work on Euphoria, teams up again with the show’s creator, Sam Levinson. John David Washington has recently appeared in Christopher Nolan’s latest film, Tenet, and in starred in Spike Lee’s Oscar-nominated film from 2018, BlacKkKlansman.
This film was among one of the first to be filmed during the COVID-19 pandemic. The cast and crew worked very hard and carefully to uphold all safety guidelines on set.
