Katie Kelly is a name you should learn. The young actress is an up and comer with an incredibly bright future. That’s fully evident with her breakout lead role in Sno Babies, a drug addiction drama and cautionary tale. Kelly is impossible ignore here, giving a full-bodied and intense performance that may well break your heart. In five years, it wouldn’t shock me if she’s an A-lister and/or an Academy Award nominee. She’s got the goods, plain and simple. Given the chance recently to hop on the phone with Kelly, she’s more than happy to explain how this role came about, and why it’s so important to her.
Below, you can hear my interview with Kelly. She talks about the appeal of Sno Babies, the interesting tale of how she landed the part, and what she hopes people take from it. The film is somewhat of a mixed bag, though Kelly makes it well worth watching. It’s a tough sit, but the material demands that.
