On November 14, 2021 Yellowjackets hit our television screens and no one was ready for what came next. Today, Paramount+ has begun our descent (into madness?) with the release of the official teaser trailer and art for the final season of the Emmy-winning series.
Below you can watch the teaser and read some of the official press release. A warning to those not caught up, you may want to avoid watching or reading any further until you have seen all the previously released episodes – it is worth the wait. Yellowjackets has consistently been one of my favorites of the year each season, stacked full of great performances, twist, intrigue and plenty of good eats that turn the phrase “having a friend for dinner” on its head.
Season four adds to the already killer cast. It stars Emmy® nominee Melanie Lynskey, Emmy® nominee Christina Ricci, Tawny Cypress, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, Warren Kole, Kevin Alves, Sarah Desjardins, Nia Sondaya, Jenna Burgess, and two-time Academy Award® winner Hilary Swank. Guest starring are June Squibb, Elijah Wood, Molly Ringwald, Devon Sawa, Sam Braun, Dulé Hill and more.
This season looks to finally serve up what fans have been craving for five years… a rescue. Check out the new art and teaser, but also be sure to our numerous cast interviews starting back from season, including TV Topics episodes with Melanie Lynskey, Courtney Eaton, and Christina Ricci (links to each is embedded in the episode).
For those not in the know, here’s how the series is described in the official press release:
“Created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, Yellowjackets is the saga of a team of wildly talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness. Equal parts survival epic, psychological horror story and coming-of-age drama, the series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never really past and what began out in the wilderness is far from over.“
The series returns to Paramount+ on Friday, November 20. Enjoy the trailer and I will see you on the other side with season 4 interviews coming your way in the next few weeks.
Hungry for more? The buzz is getting loud. Earlier this week the Yellowjackets’ return was ‘reported’ in an MTV News segment, and even ‘acknowledged’ by Alanis Morissette in her MTV Unplugged performance of her timeless hit Ironic.
