Bleecker Street to Campaign Marion Bailey in Best Actress and Kate O’Flynn in Best Supporting Actress for ‘Tender Loving Care’

For those following the emerging decisions about Oscar season category placements, the absolute hardest call this year has seemingly been where to push the ladies of Mike Leigh‘s Tender Loving Care. Marion Bailey and Kate O’Flynn both have strong arguments for Best Actress campaigns, while either would also be a force in Best Supporting Actress. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the distributor has opted for Bailey in Actress and O’Flynn in Supporting Actress. The former is first billed and the crux of the emotional arc of the story (as well as Leigh’s real life partner), all of which factored into the thinking. It may also lead to O’Flynn having a better shot at an Academy Award nomination, overall. As for their co-stars, it was very obvious, but Alice Bailey Johnson is also going to be in Best Supporting Actress, while Paul Jesson will be in Best Supporting Actor.
