The Broken Lizard comedy troupe (Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske) first formed in 1989, and their first film together was back in 1996. Fast forward to 2026 and their third Super Troopers movie, Super Troopers 3, has just opened in theaters. Not only is it an impressive display of longevity, it’s a tribute to their ability to work together. Recently, I was given some time to chat with them about the flick. Now, with it in theaters, I’m pleased to show off our talk.
In my review here of the film yesterday, I said the following about the guys:
Broken Lizard, consisting of Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske, has shown some impressive staying power over the years. Their style of comedy is evergreen, so as long as they keep making people laugh, they’ll always have a place in the industry. Beyond the Super Troopers trilogy, they’re also responsible for work like Beerfest, Club Dread, and The Slammin’ Salmon, plus other adjacent to Broken Lizard flicks. You probably already know your thoughts on them, and Super Troopers 3 won’t change that, but this is probably their sweetest work to date.
Below, you can see my chat with Broken Lizard. Amusingly, this discussion took place (for them) at the International Church of Cannabis in Denver, which is pretty fitting for them. I was on Zoom, so that’s why the display of the video is a bit different. As for the conversation, we talk Super Troopers 3, Brian Cox, and lots more. They’re clearly still having fun and enjoy talking about the process, so it leads to a lot of silliness. If you’re a Broken Lizard fan, Chandrasekhar, Heffernan, Lemme, Soter, and Stolhanske are thrilled to still have you. In a very real way, Super Troopers 3 was made for you.
Here now is my interview with Broken Lizard, talking Super Troopers 3. Enjoy:
Super Troopers 3 is in theaters now!
