Last year at the Toronto International Film Festival, one of the more well liked movies was Maude Apatow‘s directorial debut Poetic License. A small scale critical darling at TIFF, it was scooped up by new distributor on the block Row K (which had also acquired Dead Man’s Wire), only to see its release put off indefinitely as the shingle ran into massive money troubles. Well, another home has been found for the film at last.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony Pictures Classics has picked up Poetic License. Directed by Apatow, with the cast led by Leslie Mann, the plan is now to put the film out sometime in 2027. So, there’s still a bit of a wait for the movie if you’ve been anticipating it since TIFF, but just know, it’s on the way from Sony Classics.
