Last week saw the release of Lucky Strike, Rod Lurie‘s World War II film, and he shows no signs of slowing down. If you listened to our own Joey Magidson’s latest conversation with Lurie (here), you’ll know that his next project, one that he’s already begun shooting, is a western. Well, we now know some more about it, as well as who the stars are. Read on to find out the details.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie is called The Horseman. Barry Pepper and Kiefer Sutherland star, with C. Thomas Howell also among the cast members. Pepper co-wrote the screenplay with Ed Gass-Donnelly and plays the hero, while Sutherland is the villain, all under the direction of Lurie. The film is set for release early next year through the Scripps Networks, which in the United States means a likely debut on cable channel Grit. So, this is in fact a television movie, for what that’s worth. Stay tuned for more on this one as it completes shooting.
