Dito Montiel to Direct a Gene Wilder Biopic

Gene Wilder was a beloved performer and a genius, someone whose work will live on forever. Whether it’s his work with Mel Brooks, Richard Pryor, or even just on his own, few could ever dream of doing it like he did. Well, it seems that filmmaker Dito Montiel is as taken with Wilder as everything else, as he’s working on a biopic of the actor/writer/director.

According to Deadline, Montiel is directing a Wilder biopic, which he co-wrote with Jeremy Roth. This will be an authorized biopic, too, as Montiel has secured life rights from the Wilder Estate. So, unlike some other recent biopics that have been announced, this one has the blessing of those closest to the subject. Stay tuned for more.
