Park Chan-Wook making a western is a very exciting proposition. The project, with the title of The Brigands of Rattlecreek, has been in development by the filmmaker for some time. The cast is set to feature Matthew McConaughey, Austin Butler, Pedro Pascal, and Tang Wei. Now, we know the company that’s closing in on a deal to distribute the movie.
According to Variety, Warner Bros. new specialty label Clockwork is in exclusive negotiations to make a deal for the film. Clockwork already has Sean Baker‘s Anora follow-up Ti Amo! as their first big project, but this would certainly be another. The synopsis for The Brigands of Rattlecreek is as follows:
A capstone of the themes Park Chan-wook has plumbed across his entire body of work to date, the film is an emotionally explosive and visually stunning meditation on the consequences of violence, the value of family, the power of memory, and the true cost of life.
