Snoop Dogg Announces His Biopic at CinemaCon 2026 with a Director and Actor Reveal

Universal Pictures added a dose of West Coast swagger to its CinemaCon presentation with the announcement of an upcoming biopic centered on Snoop Dogg, a project that aims to capture both the artist’s cultural impact and his personal journey.

The reveal came in memorable fashion, with Snoop himself taking the stage to perform “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” energizing the crowd before shifting focus to the film that will bring his story to the big screen.

The biopic will be directed by Craig Brewer, whose previous work on music-driven films like Hustle & Flow and Song Sung Blue makes him a fitting choice to tackle Snoop’s rise from Long Beach to global icon.

Jonathan Daviss is set to portray Snoop Dogg, stepping into the role of one of hip-hop’s most recognizable and enduring figures. Production is slated to begin this summer.

While specific plot details remain under wraps, the film is expected to explore Snoop’s early life, his breakthrough in the 1990s rap scene, and his evolution into a multi-faceted entertainer and entrepreneur. Given Brewer’s track record and Snoop’s own involvement, the project is positioned to balance raw authenticity with crowd-pleasing storytelling, aiming to appeal both to longtime fans and general audiences.
