‘Project Hail Mary’ Was Shot Without the Use of Green Screen

We’re just about two weeks out from the release of Project Hail Mary and the buzz is building. Early word out of advance screenings for press has been overwhelmingly positive, with our own editor Joey Magidson loving it as well. His social media post here called it “a stunning achievement,” so that’s pretty high praise. Now, we’re hearing that it was made in a manner that few blockbusters even attempt these days. More below.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film was made without the use of green screen. This comes from Christopher Miller, who directed the movie alongside Phil Lord, so it’s from the horse’s mouth, as it were. You’ll be able to see what Joey and company have been raving about on March 20th, and while Ryan Gosling will be in deep space, he won’t be seen with any green or blue screen, that’s for sure.
