Austin Butler to Play Lance Armstrong in Film From Edward Berger

The careers of director Edward Berger and actor Austin Butler have been on a huge upswing of late. After Berger was Oscar nominated for All Quiet on the Western Front, he had another awards darling in Conclave, while Butler has become a major A-list star in the aftermath of his nomination for Elvis. Now, the pair are collaborating on a very baity biopic. More below.

According to Variety, Berger is going to be directing Butler in a film about disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong. Zach Baylin is writing the screenplay for the film, which has already sparked a bidding war. There’s a ton of talent here, so if all goes well, look for this to be a prestige title in 2027 or 2028. Once more comes out on the movie, we’ll have it, so stay tuned for further details.
