Television Critics Association Unveils Its ‘TCA APPROVED: 10 Best Shows of 2025’

As a voting member of TCA, I am proud to share the news of the Television Critics Association’s selections for the best television of the year. While I will not reveal my votes, I will share that seven of my ten selections made the list. Even though my personal ballot did not match up exactly, I did enjoy the remaining three series as well. If you have not watched anything on this list, today is your luck day – TCA provided this roadmap to excellent television. Enjoy! Below is the complete list and TCA press release.


LOS ANGELES – December 17, 2025 – The Television Critics Association (TCA) announced today its inaugural “TCA Approved: 10 Best Shows Of 2025” list, as selected by its more than 200 members across the United States and Canada. Members submitted their favorite series, specials and movies that aired in 2025.

Highlights include Apple TV’s “Pluribus,” which TCA member Marcus James Dixon of Gold Derby calls “a masterclass acting showcase for Rhea Seehorn;” FX’s “The Lowdown,” which TCA member Rob Owen of Trib Total Media hailed as “a welcome addition to a short list of TV’s best current series;” and HBO’s “Task,” which TCA member Carly Lane of Collider says leaves “emotional ripples that reverberate long after the initial impact.”

Several 2025 TCA Award winners appear on this new list, such as HBO Max’s hit high-stakes medical drama “The Pitt,” which earned a season-best four TCA Awards in August, including top honors for Program Of The Year and Individual Achievement In Drama for star Noah Wyle. 

Other TCA Award winners include Seth Rogen’s industry sendup “The Studio,” reigning winner of the TCA’s Outstanding Achievement In Comedy award, and the Netflix drama “Adolescence,” which took home the TCA’s award for Outstanding Achievement In Movies, Miniseries Or Specials.

The list reflects the trove of diverse programming that the past year had to offer, and emphasizes the promising future of the current television landscape.
