Interview: The Cast of ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ Promise an Exciting Season 2

Percy Jackson and the Olympians quickly became one of the most successful projects Disney+ has to offer. The streaming platform is so confident in the adaptation of Rick Riordan’s book that a third installment has already been commissioned. But before viewers can get to that point, the second season must make a statement on Disney+.

Awards Radar had the opportunity to interview Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri, Dior Goodjohn, Charlie Bushnell and Daniel Diemer. The main cast of Percy Jackson and the Olympians are more than ready for the world to see the next chapter of the story on their screens.

Walker Scobell knows that Percy’s journey is complicated. The young actor discussed how important it was to give the hero of these story light moments in the middle of the darkness that surrounds him: “It’s really difficult, because in the books, you hear a lot of Percy’s internal monologue. He makes a lot of jokes to the reader. Even when he’s in a bad mood and bad things happen. In live-action, it’s difficult to show that, because it would look like I just didn’t care. It’s really imperative that we find times for Percy to be happy. (…) Especially going into these later seasons.”

Aryan Simhadri is back as Grover. The wise character knows how to look at the best parts of people, including Luke: “I absolutely do think he would have reasons to not hate them “Luke and Aries). I saw Superman (2025) recently, while filming Season 3. Weirdly, that informed me a lot of what Grover thinks about Luke.

I think he acknowledges the fact that he’s on the wrong path. Putting a label such as “bad person” on him is a little bit too simple for Grover. He knows that he has to be stopped, but killing him isn’t the correct way to do that.”

Many characters from Percy Jackson are brave. However, Leah Sava Jeffries explained what allows Annabeth’s bravery to stand out: “Sometimes she shows she’s brave (…), but sometimes she needs her friends to help her get back up. That’s the bravery part of it. She actually allows it now, if that makes sense. (…) I think that’s how Annabeth shows that she’s changed, especially since Season 1.

Daniel Diemer is ready to steal the show in Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The young actor knew the values he wanted to portray in his version of Tyson: “I don’t want to oversimplify it, but love, at its core, was just everything. It’s finding self love when the rest of the world isn’t giving you that. Also using self love to externalize that to everybody else. (…) It’s patience with those around you, it’s kindness, it’s gentleness.

Charlie Bushnell is ready to have fun with Luke’s dark side: “It was so fun to dive deeper into Luke this season. We really get to understand where Luke is coming from and why he’s doing what he’s doing. His intentions are very clear, he lays that out for them, particularly in Episode 3. He’s still trying to recruit Percy and Annabeth to his side. It doesn’t really work out. Luke is just such an interesting character. To be back in Season 2 and Season 3…I’m so grateful.”

Dior Goodjohn agrees that it’s hard for Clarisse to get along with people. But that doesn’t mean that the character hates everyone: “I don’t think Clarisse is angry at people. Her anger isn’t directed at people. Her anger comes out when she’s on her path and something gets in the way. Any obstacle! She has a smaller level of anger for a squirell that gets in her way than for a person who gets in her way, if that makes any sense. She’s very one-track-minded.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians returns to Disney+ on December 10. The third season of the show remains in development.
