More Gremlins are coming! The 1984 hit Gremlins did span a 1990 sequel in Gremlins 2: The New Batch, but a third installment has never come about, at least until now. It turns, out that original writer Chris Columbus has had a screenplay in the works for almost a decade, with various other scribes taking a crack at it. However, Warner Bros. likes the latest take enough to also have a November 19th, 2027 release date set up. More below.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein are writing the new Gremlins movie with Columbus. The film will also again count Steven Spielberg as an executive producer. Lipovsky and Stein have been in demand after the hit Final Destination: Bloodlines earlier this year, so scoring them is seen as a coup for WB. More to come on Gremlins 3, but look for Gizmo and his far more dangerous comrades to again be stars in two years.
