Trailer Released for Kelly Reichardt’s ‘The Mastermind’ Starring Josh O’Connor

Today, the trailer for The Mastermind from Kelly Reichardt has hit the web. After debuting at the Cannes Film Festival, it has been quiet for the movie, though it could play next week at the Telluride Film Festival, before going to the New York Film Festival in the fall. Reichardt writes and directs the caper, which stars Josh O’Connor, Alana Haim, Gabby Hoffman, John Magaro, Hope Davis, and Bill Camp. The film will be in theaters on October 17th.

This is the simple plot synopsis from MUBI: “In a sedate corner of Massachusetts circa 1970, JB Mooney (Josh O’Connor), an unemployed carpenter turned amateur art thief, plans his first big heist. When things go haywire, his life unravels.”
