CBS to End ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’ in May of 2026 and Retire ‘The Late Show’ Franchise

Yesterday, some stunning news came our way. CBS announced that The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is coming to an end next year. May of 2026 will mark the last broadcast. Now, they’re calling this a purely financial decision, though Stephen Colbert has been a major critic of the President, as well as recently going after Paramount’s decision to settle a lawsuit with him over a 60 Minutes interview. According to CBS, not only is Colbert ending next year, so too is The Late Show franchise itself. Less than a year from now, it’s being retired, so if nothing else, Colbert is not being replaced. You can see Colbert’s announcement during the taping of the most recent show below:
