With The Life of Chuck out in theaters and getting some of the best reviews a Stephen King adaptation has had in years, it’s not shocking that interest in some of his other works is renewed. For years, a new version of The Stand has been bandied about, with filmmakers like Ben Affleck, Josh Boone, and David Yates in various degrees of attachment. Well, Paramount has a new director on board.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Doug Liman is attached to direct the film. A writer still has to be hired, which probably shouldn’t take long, but this is the firmest news about a movie version of The Stand in some time. Liman is a big name and used to spectacle, so he could be a very solid fit for one of King’s seminal works. More when we have it.
