Michael Sarnoski to Direct ‘Death Stranding’ Adaptation

The video game Death Stranding is among the most cinematic ever made, so a movie version was always a strong possibility. In fact, given how much of a cinephile creator Hideo Kojima is, it wouldn’t have been a shock to see him at the helm. Well, with the film adaptation moving forward, Kojima won’t be behind the camera, but we now know who is.

According to Deadline, Pig and A Quiet Place: Day One filmmaker Michael Sarnoski will be writing and directing. A24 and Kojima Productions are producing Death Stranding. The article says that the film will “delve into the game’s mysteries surrounding the “Death Stranding” — a catastrophic series of events that blurred the boundaries between the worlds of the living and the dead, bringing forth nightmarish creatures into a fragmented world on the brink of collapse.” No word yet on casting, but this is an exciting video game adaptation, to be sure.
