2024 was a good year for Zendaya. Between Challengers and Dune: Part Two, she was in a pair of major hits. Barry Jenkins also made his mark last year, putting forth his largest effort yet with Mufasa: The Lion King. Now, they’re poised to team up on a musical biopic about one of the bigger artists of her era.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Zendaya and Jenkins are making a biopic about Ronnie Spector. An original screenplay has been written by Dave Kajganich, with A24 on board to distribute. Spector was the lead of the 1960s girl group the Ronnettes, with all the trials and tribulations you’d expect from a musician getting the film treatment. Look for this movie in a year or two to be a major potential awards player.
