A24 Acquires ‘Sorry, Baby’ After Sundance Premiere

After a buzzy premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, A24 has acquired worldwide rights to Sorry, Baby, a drama written and directed by Eva Victor. The filmmaker also stars in the movie, with Naomi Ackie, Lucas Hedges, John Carroll Lynch, Louis Cancelmi, Kelly McCormack, E.R. Fightmaster and Hettienne Park rounding up the supporting cast.

The logline for the movie reads, “Something bad happened to Agnes. But life goes on… for everyone around her, at least.” NEON and MUBI were also in the mix to acquire the movie, which had a bidding war that lasted for several days with a price tag nearing the $8 million mark.

The Barry Jenkins-produced film premiered on Monday at the Eccles Theatre in Park City, where it received a thunderous standing ovation. Keep an eye out soon for more information on the movie’s plans for release, which will likely occur relatively shortly. Plus, Joey will be reviewing it in the next day or so, so be on the lookout for that as well.
