Awards Radar Community / Sunday Scaries: Which Horror Sequel This Year Has Been Your Favorite?

The Sunday Scaries are upon us once again! Yes, as the weekend concludes, most of us feel an oncoming sense of anticipatory dread about the week ahead. Anxiety about work manifests itself into a feeling that’s known as the Sunday Scaries. However, we at Awards Radar are here to combat that, by taking back the name. Now, we want you think about a horror-centric piece on the site when you hear the term. So, let us continue on with another installment of the Awards Radar Sunday Scaries! Today, we’re asking you about the horror sequels of 2024 so far…

This year, we’ve had more than our fair share of horror sequels, with some prequels thrown in for good measure. Every year has them, but it has felt like they’ve been notably present in 2024. So, combining the Sunday Scaries platform with the Awards Radar Community Question, we’re going to ask you all about that. Namely, what has been your favorite horror sequel so far this year?

A24

In the past week or so alone, we’ve have Smile 2, Terrifier 3, and V/H/S/Beyond all open up. In particular, Smile 2 is about to have a big weekend at the box office, while Terrifier 3 just last weekend left another clown in the dust with Joker: Folie à Deux. The Smile franchise is now a certified thing, while the Terrifier series is only getting bigger and better. If any of these strike your fancy, definitely let us know about it.

Prior to that, this year featured Alien: Romulus, The First Omen (a prequel), MaXXXine, A Quiet Place: Day One (also a prequel), The Strangers: Chapter 1 (another prequel), and Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2. In particular, The First Omen, MaXXXine, and A Quiet Place: Day One have each received some very strong reviews, so if one of them floats your boat, you’ll be in very good company, to be sure.

The choice is yours on this Sunday Scaries. Which of the above mentioned horror sequels (or one of the prequels) has been your favorite? If it’s one that I didn’t mention, don’t be shy about saying so, either. Regardless, have at it…

Which horror sequel (or prequel) this year has been your favorite? Let us know!
