American Psycho has grown into a classic, even if the film didn’t begin that way. The book was a controversial bestseller, while the movie itself had that same aura of scandal, before only being rediscovered as a modern classic in recent years. Well, it seems like director Luca Guadagnino is a fan, because a new take on the novel is shaping up to be his next project.
According to Deadline, Guadagnino is in final talks to helm American Psycho, with Scott Z. Burns penning the adaptation. Lionsgate is handling the film, which will be a different take on the Brett Easton Ellis book than the original movie by Mary Harron. After Challengers and Queer this year, it’s definitely a unique choice for the filmmaker, but one he has a chance to really knock out of the park.
