Back at the Telluride Film Festival, our own editor Joey Magidson absolutely fell in love with Sean Baker‘s latest film Anora. Giving it four stars (review here), he called the movie a “spectacular achievement” and wrote that it is “the best movie of the year.” Well, as it gets set to begin its theatrical run next week, a new trailer has debuted and guess what? That exact quote is contained within, bringing the trailer to a close.
Anora stars Mikey Madison in the title role, with Baker writing and directing. The plot is as follows: “Anora, a sex worker from Brooklyn, gets her chance at a Cinderella story when she meets and marries the son of an oligarch. Once the news reaches Russia, her fairytale is threatened as the parents set out for New York to get the marriage annulled.”
