One of the pleasures of watching The Problem with People is seeing Colm Meaney and Paul Reiser paired up. Go figure, one of the pleasures of talking to Meaney and Reiser about the film is listening to them interact. The movie lives and dies on their chemistry, so watching some of it in person while discussing the work was an utter delight. With the flick hitting theaters in a few days, I recently sat down on Zoom with the actors to talk about their performances. Today, that conversation comes your way…
In my review of The Problem with People (here), I had the following to say about Meaney and Reiser:
Paul Reiser and Colm Meaney have wonderful chemistry together, so it’s a hoot to watch them throughout. Meaney gets to go a bit bigger, befitting his more volatile character, but it’s still charming and funny work. Reiser gets one of his best showcases to date, always showcasing his comic chops, but with a pathos here that I found affecting. Plus, he can sell a joke like few others, which we see on more than one occasion here.
Below, you can see my chat with Meaney and Reiser. We talk a lot about their interactions in the film, of course, but we start with sports. Plus, we end with their discovery that both had done episodes of Remington Steele earlier in their careers, which leads to a very fun story. Both gentlemen are delightful, they pair together quite well, and you can see it not just in the movie, but in this discussion. Both are must sees, in my humble opinon!
Here now is my interview with The Problem with People stars Colm Meaney and Paul Reiser. Enjoy:
