‘Spaceballs 2’ in the Works at Amazon MGM Studios

The search for more money is underway as Amazon MGM Studios is in early development of a sequel to the hit parody film Spaceballs. Mel Brooks will executive produce the project, with Josh Gad, who will also star and co-wrote the screenplay with Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez.

Josh Greenbaum, who previously worked on Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar and Strays, will be helming the project, with Kevin Salter also helping as executive producer.

Details on the sequel are sparse, but Gad took to Instagram earlier this month teasing the movie, stating that he had “Just handed in a film script that I think may be the funniest and best thing I’ve ever worked on and I am so freaking excited. Working with my boys [Dan Hernandez] and [Benji Samit] has been heaven on Earth and many other planets as well. Love you boys!”

More information should likely come soon, but in the meantime, may the Schwartz be with you!
