During their upfront presentation, Netflix announced that a new thriller from Academy Award-winning director Kathryn Bigelow is in the works. No majorly specific details were revealed, but we do know that the movie will center on a group of White House officials scrambling to deal with an incoming missile attack on the United States, per The Hollywood Reporter.
The movie will also be told in real-time, with a tone similar to the one Bigelow brought to the screen in Zero Dark Thirty. It will also mark her return to the military genre after she diverged from doing so by helming Detroit in 2017. Noah Oppenheim is writing the screenplay.
Talks for Bigelow to helm a Netflix movie have been a long time coming, so it’s finally great to see her making another feature again after what seems like an eternity. Here’s hoping it’ll be just as good as the last three motion pictures she brought onto the screen!
