Joey’s Home Movies For the Week of April 15th – Take Home the Jack Ryan Collection!

Welcome back to my Home Movies! Today, we have a box set of Jack Ryan action films leading the way. This week’s slate is low on new releases, so looking back to this cinematic character feels like a great idea. Plus, there’s even television versions of the character hitting shelves, so it’s only appropriate. Read on for more…

Joey’s Top Pick

Jack Ryan Ultimate 5-Movie Collection (4K)

This box set includes the stone cold classic The Hunt for Red October, which makes it a worthwhile purchase on its own. However, it includes all of the other big screen Jack Ryan adventures, including the Harrison Ford outings Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger, plus Ben Affleck‘s one The Sum of All Fears, as well as Chris Pine in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. Alec Baldwin set the stage going up against Sean Connery though in The Hunt for Red October, so he personally takes the cake for me. However, you can’t go wrong here!

Also Available This Week

Star Trek: Lower Decks: Season 4 (TV)

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: The Complete Series (TV)

Werckmeister Harmonies

From The Criterion Collection: “This mesmeric parable of societal collapse is an enigma of transcendent visual, philosophical, and mystical resonance. Adapted from a novel by László Krasznahorkai, Werckmeister Harmonies unfolds in an unknown time in an unnamed village, where, one day, a mysterious circus—complete with an enormous stuffed whale and a shadowy, demagogue-like figure known as the Prince—arrives and appears to awaken a kind of madness in the citizens that builds inexorably toward violence. In thirty-nine hypnotic long takes engraved in ghostly black and white, auteur Béla Tarr and codirector-editor Ágnes Hranitzky conjure an apocalyptic vision of dreamlike dread and fathomless beauty.”

Stay tuned for more next week…
