Francis Ford Coppola’s ‘Megalopolis’ to Play In Competition at the 77th Cannes Film Festival

The past week or so has seen a lot of chatter about Francis Ford Coppola‘s long gestating passion project, Megalopolis. The Adam Driver starring epic drama recently screened for potential buyers, without a deal in sight. Well, now comes word that the movie has scored an invite to the 77th Cannes Film Festival.

According to Deadline, not only is Megalopolis playing at Cannes this year, it has locked in an In Competition slot. Coppola is certainly hoping to have a distribution deal by then, but if he doesn’t, the movie could score a stronger deal by knocking out its festival premiere. Time will tell, but moves are being made by the filmmaker and his passion project!
