Universal is going full steam ahead on a new Jurassic World film, with a script written by David Koepp, to bow out in theatres on July 2, 2025. Whether it will make its tight release date remains to be seen, but Gareth Edwards is attached to helm the project, after David Leitch exited it, as he was briefly attached to direct the film earlier this year.
The Hollywood Reporter has now revealed that Scarlett Johansson is in talks to star as the lead character in the project. This would mark her return to franchise filmmaking after starring as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for over ten years. She will also contribute to the Transformers franchise by lending her voice to the upcoming Transformers One as Elita-1, alongside Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, and Keegan Michael-Key. The film is set to release in September of this year.
Not much is currently known about the Jurassic World reboot, but after its last film, Dominion, made over $1 billion at the global box office, it was futile to think that the Jurassic Park/World franchise would ever end. Here’s hoping this one will at least be more worthwhile than the alleged ‘final’ chapter of the series.
