Past Acting Winners to Present at the Oscars

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the Academy of Motion Picture, Arts, and Sciences plans to bring back a past presenting practice, which was, in many respects, the highlight of its 2009 ceremony. Five past acting winners, instead of solely last year’s winner, were on stage presenting the Oscar for each of the acting categories: Best Actor, Actress, Supporting Actor, and Supporting Actress.

The Academy has not revealed who will join Brendan Fraser, Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan and Jamie Lee Curtis to present each category, and won’t, until the ceremony itself. However, with the first round of presenters announced yesterday, one can assume past Oscar acting winners like Nicolas Cage, Matthew McConaughey, Al Pacino, Mahershala Ali, Sam Rockwell, and Lupita Nyong’o may join last year’s respective winners to present its acting categories.

For those who remember, this news may be an exciting development for the 96th Academy Awards, which will, once again, take place on March 10 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.
