One of the most interesting unmade projects of Quentin Tarantino‘s is, without question, his Star Trek film. One of the most singular filmmakers in the business tackling a studio science fiction epic? On the surface, it made no sense, even as the possibilities were tantalizing. Well, according to the writer of the movie, the script they’d come up with with terrific, though the reason it’ll never be made by Tarantino may prove frustrating.
According to Variety, writer Mark L. Smith has gone to bat for the project as what would have been the best Star Trek film ever. Moreover, the stumbling point seems to be that Tarantino didn’t want the movie to be his final directing gig. He’s long said he plans to stop at ten, with The Movie Critic being his last project. So, we’re left to wonder what might have been.
