‘The Bikeriders’ Delays Release as Strike Continues On

Jeff Nichols‘ latest film, The Bikeriders, is among his most star-studded to date. In addition to Austin Butler, Jodie Comer, and Tom Hardy in the lead roles, the supporting cast also includes Michael Shannon, as well as Emory Cohen, Mike Faist, and Norman Reedus. So, clearly an element of promoting the movie would be the cast. Back at Telluride, Joey saw it and praised the leads here, saying that “the trio of Austin Butler, Jodie Comer, and Tom Hardy lead the way.” Well, with the December 1st release date approaching sooner than you think and the actors still on strike, New Regency has opted to pull out of that date.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Bikeriders still hopes to qualify for this year’s Oscar race, but that December release date won’t be happening. The Actors Strike has made promoting the film too difficult for a smaller work like this, so they’re going to cross their fingers that SAG-AFTRA isn’t on strike by the end of the year. If so, the movie could do a qualifying run, before hitting theaters wide early in 2024. Stay tuned for more.
