Last week, I was lucky enough to attend a presentation for Disney’s latest animated feature, Wish. Those of us in attendance were also treated to the upcoming short Once Upon a Studio, which is an absolute delight (more on that later, though). Both works tie into Disney’s 100th anniversary celebration and fit beautifully. I was able to speak with the parties involved in both productions. Today, I’ll be sharing my Wish conversations with you all.
With the Trailer having just debuted (it should be up on the site as you’re listening to/reading this), you can get a glimpse at the musical magic that I witnessed. Not only does it feel like classic Disney, the songs are catchy, while the mix of animation styles lends it a singular look. I’ll have more to say about this one soon, but it does look like the company, as well as the creatives, have crafted something quite worthy of being released in conjunction with the 100th anniversary celebrations.
Below, you can hear my chats with co-directors Chris Buck and Fawn Veerasunthorn, co-writer/Animation Chief Creative Officer Jennifer Lee, as well as producers Peter Del Vecho and Juan Pablo Reyes Lancaster Jones. We all talk about the care placed in their hands in crafting Wish. The joy and pride they have at this achievement is palpable. After listening to these, you’ll be pumped to see this flick in November. Quick warning: I had a bit of a coughing fit during the end of my conversation with Lee, so just ignore the very end, at least my part of it. She was very sweet and concerned. No worries, I’d just done too many interviews in a row! Anyway, on with the interview audio…
Here are my Wish conversations. Enjoy:
Wish is only in theaters on November 22nd!
