Sean Baker Recently Shot a New Film?

A new film from Sean Baker is certainly cause to celebrate for fans of independent cinema. Two years ago, Baker’s Red Rocket was a favorite of our own Joey Magidson, naming it his best film of 2021, alongside Simon Rex for Actor of the year. So, there’s likely rejoicing in his home that Baker has a new project that just recently completed shooting.

According to The Playlist and World of Reel, Baker is done making Anora, set to be his latest film. Details are scarce, but it’s apparently about a sex worker in a fancy section of New York City. No cast has been announced, and we don’t even know if Baker is again working with his longtime co-writer Chris Bergoch, but this is potentially a movie to look out for during this fall’s festival season. If not, the Cannes Film Festival next year will likely come calling.
