The Safdie Brothers No Longer Co-Directing Their Next Adam Sandler Film Together?

The Safdie Brothers have become not just indie filmmaking darlings, but a writing and directing duo with some major bonafides. After working on the smaller independent scene, their collaboration with Adam Sandler on Uncut Gems really launched them to new heights. Well, we already know that the brothers are planning a new film with Sandler, but some news about the behind the camera element has recently come out.

According to Above the Line, Josh Safdie will apparently be directing their next project on his own. That means that Benny Safdie will only be co-producing and co-writing this Sandler movie. It seems that Benny’s acting career taking off is cutting into his time to make this one, so Josh will direct solo. It remains to be seen if this changes, is confirmed, or is only a temporary change, as opposed to a permanent one. More when we have it.
