The World of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie-Land Gets Its First-Full Look in Second Teaser for ‘Barbie’

“To live in Barbie Land is to be a perfect being in a perfect place.  Unless you have a full-on existential crisis. Or you’re a Ken.”

The Barbie-Land set blockbuster received the official trailer treatment today as Warner Bros. Pictures revealed the first full glimpse into the highly anticipated Greta Gerwig-directed Barbie. The film stars Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken, and is the third directorial effort from Gerwig (Little WomenLady Bird).

The trailer offers fans a first look at the film’s world fully clad in plastic pink. The film is described as a “meta” take on the iconic Mattel doll where Robbie’s Barbie is a doll living in a world where everything is perfect, but she soon realizes that she doesn’t quite fit in. She sets off on an adventure to find her place in the world, and along the way, she meets a variety of characters, including Gosling’s Ken.

The film also stars America FerreraSimu LiuKate McKinnonAlexandra ShippEmma MackeyWill Ferrell, and Ariana Greenblatt among many others.

Barbie is written by Gerwig and her partner Noah Baumbach and is produced by Robbie, Tom AckerleyRobbie BrennerDavid Heyman, and Josey McNamara.

The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 21, 2023. Watch the trailer below.
