‘Dune: Part Two’ Won’t Be at the Venice Film Festival

One of the first signs that Dune was going to be a potentially big deal in terms of the awards season was that it played the film festival circuit. Chiefly, a Venice Film Festival bow. It followed that up by playing several other festivals, which only increased its cache. Joey saw it at the Toronto International Film Festival (reviewed here), for example. So, anticipation is quite high for Dune: Part Two. Well, while it could still play several places, don’t expect it to start in the same place.

According to Deadline, the Dune sequel won’t be playing at the Venice. The piece states that other festivals seem likely, but due to the effects work and a later release date, that particular spot just never made sense. Stay tuned for on Dune: Part Two‘s festival plans as they become clearer.
